Tasting Notes For Morgante Nero D'Avola 2023

The 2023 Morgante Nero d'Avola is a full-bodied Sicilian red with an intense ruby hue. Refined geranium, blueberry, and blackberry aromas lead to a warm, balanced palate whose light tannic grip supports the wine's generous dark-fruit character.

Fruit from elevated clay-limestone sites is fermented in stainless steel with skin contact, then briefly refined in second-use French oak and bottle. The result is well suited to grilled or roasted meats, charcuterie, medium-aged cheese, and strongly flavored fish dishes.

The retained James Suckling review and 91-point rating apply to the prior 2022 vintage: youthful and fragrant, with lavender, red plum, chocolate-orange, and cinnamon notes, fresh acidity, and soft tannins. This prior-vintage attribution is not evidence for the 2023 wine.
